What looks like an ordinary closet from the outside .......
is actually a crafter's haven!
Okay so maybe it's not a haven, but it is fairly organized and holds all my crafty stuff. Organized crafty stuff makes me happy.
We've had this bookcase for years but didn't have a good place for it in this house. I tried selling it on Craig's list with no luck; so I just decided to use it in this closet to organize all of my craft supplies.
I wanted to dress it up just a bit since guests will probably see the inside of this closet. I made some word art canvases using vinyl letters I already had and a red sharpie marker.
I corralled everything in bins and baskets that I already had to make things easy to find. Then I used chalkboard vinyl to make labels for everything.
Please don't call hoarders on me. I have an addicted to grosgrain ribbon- someone please help me!
If they're bringing neon back; I'm bringing puff paint back.
Who needs fancy organizers when you can re-purpose a cookie tin. So sweet! Ha - get it?!
In case there was any doubt as to who this closet belongs to, I went ahead and put a big ol' yarn-wrapped "C" on it!
Hey, at least I left my guests some nice hangers!
What does your guest closet look like? Have you claimed it for yourself too? Anyone else unsure about bringing neon back? I'm having flashbacks to fourth grade, and it ain't pretty people!

I am swooning at the organization! It's fabulous. Your guests are going to be breaking into your crafting stash and making all sorts of stuff when they can't sleep!
ReplyDeleteMy heart just went pitter patter! Love this! I also took over my guest room closet for my craft stuff. We aren't quite settled yet (just moved back in June ... but are slowly getting there), so my stuff isn't organized as it was in my old craft closet. Seeing yours makes me want to organize pronto!
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I'm feeling inspired to tackle my craft room now. It looks great!!!
ReplyDeleteGirl I am so jealous of all of your organized spaces! I love it!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Oh I'm so happy I stopped by! I have a very similar bookcase in my basement that isn't being used and this is an excellent idea!
ReplyDeleteawesome!!!! i love it! i am totally considering taking over the guest room as crafty closet area.... but i also have an unfinished area of the basement intended for that use, but it's the basement and cold! maybe i can show my husband your closet and convince him. :)
ReplyDeleteThough all the labels and tags are different sizes and attached differently, I love the consistency using the chalkboard vinyl. It gives the feeling of wanting to get in their and create something!
ReplyDeleteThat looks awesome, Carmel! Lucky girl!

ReplyDeleteSo want to pass on the neon. Girl, that is a fantastic craft closet. Good for you. Wowzer. And there is just enough room for me to hang my clothes when I come visit ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm drooling! Beautiful! Haha....I'm ready to create! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm just heading down to organize my craft area, too. You've inspired me with some great ideas...and that bookcase is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love the cabinet in your craft closet.
ReplyDeleteCarmel,
ReplyDeleteWe are having a contest at The 2 Seasons for a $50 gift card to The Container Store. One of the three ways to win is to mention it on your blog and then to leave a comment that you did. Thanks!

Neon never was pretty...but then I still have my doubts about puff paint! Still, you've made the most of this space, for sure! You go, girl!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! Barbara - I honestly have no idea why I even have all that puff paint? I promise I won't use it on a t-shirt! ;)
ReplyDeleteLooks great, Carmel! Funny, I was just eyeballing an armoire in my guest room closet today, and thinking of doing that very thing! I will use your fabulous craft cabinet as my inspiration. It looks so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI am a new blogger, and I absolutely love your blog! So full of creative and inspiring projects and design! I am a loyal follower!
Happy New Year!

Carmel, this is amazing work that you have done with crafty organization! It must be a big pleasure to open your closet and get inspired for many new projects! The result of looks is really great! I like that small cupboard inside the closet - very cool idea! Thank you for sharing! :-)
ReplyDeleteWow! You are officially my idol! I wish I could pull something like that together on my "lazy time off"....good work! If you end up in NY with some "lazy time" I have lots of closets that could use your touch!!
ReplyDeleteAt first glance this reminds me of the type of stores one likes to browse in - like one is shopping in someone's home (but in a good way, of course!). It is kind of like an anthropologie feel. I love the look of folded fabric in various colors and patterns. This is a perfect spot for all your supplies. You must be thrilled! When working on several home projects my supplies find their way into the guest closet for easy access (as opposed to attic) but parents stay for a few weeks so I have to keep them empty. Working on different organizational projects right now.
ReplyDeleteFound your blog via Pinterest. I wish I had as few craft supplies as you do! But no matter how much or little, it's great to have your own space, something I gained in the form of an entire room when we built our new house seven years ago. Although the room was a formal dining room on the blueprints, I understand that now, the builder simply lists it as flex space. Works for me. Your repurposed bookcase is perfect for organizing everything all your supplies! And don't worry about all that gingham ribbon - my crafty daughter has more-or-less banned me from purchasing more craft ribbon, but I sneak a roll or two in from time to time. Shhh! It's our secret. Maybe I need to join ribbon lover's anonymous. LOL
ReplyDeleteThat looks awesome:)
