A Hundred Years From Now

Source: theviewfromthejohnsons.blogspot.com via Ali on Pinterest

I consider today to be my one year blog anniversary.  I actually started this blog in September of 2010, but it wasn't until January 4, 2011 that I fully committed to this little blogging adventure.  I guess you could say that was my resolution last year.  I did pretty good at keeping that one, so maybe there's hope for my 2012 resolution.  As I reflect on my first year of blogging, I'm reminded that while I love the blog world I love my real-life world even more!

A hundred years from now it won't matter that I hot glued 20 tons of rope to a door to create a headboard.....

or that I stenciled drop cloths for curtain panels.....

but the world just might be different because I was important in the life of two children.

Am I going to continue blogging?  Absolutely!  Do I want my blog to grow?  Sure I do!  But what I want more than anything is to never lose sight of what really matters in life.  When I think about my goals for the blog I think about what I'll regret later in life.  When deciding what to do about most things I often think to myself - will I regret that I didn't do this when I'm older?  It sounds weird I guess, but it helps me to keep many things in perspective.  I've got a list probably a mile long of projects that I want to tackle, things I'd like to learn, and goals I hope to achieve.  Although, the thing is............. childhood is temporary.  These days of riding bikes outside through the leaves won't last forever, and I don't want to miss them.

I serve God first, I'm a wife second, a mom third, and then I'm a diy design/craft/life blogger.  I enjoy blogging very much, and I love to decorate my home; but what I love most about my home and my life is who I share it with.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for coming on this ride with me!  It has been a wonderful adventure, and I look forward to all that this next year will bring!  Let's take a breath, put our hands in the air, and enjoy the ride!  ;)

  8. I love that you say you are a wife second before a mother. I think so many people lose sight of that once they have kids. I am not married yet or even have kids, but I hope that when I do I never lose sight of being in love with my husband first.

  16. Perfectly stated! It's wonderful to be introspective and aware of what truly matters! Kudos to you! Your children are so fortunate to have a mother that is PRESENT in their lives. That IS what they will remember.

I am a cancer survivor, and was really able to gain a new perspective on what is important in life, during my six months of chemo. My son was just two at the time. He is now five, and a cherish each day I have with him!

God Bless you and your family in 2012!
