Start with an Inspiration Piece

A few weeks ago I blogged about a new website created by Glidden Paint called My Colortopia.

It's a great site where you can find lots of advice on everything from choosing the right paint color to getting it on the wall.  One of my favorite aspects of the site is a tool called My Image Inspiration

This tool lets you upload a picture of anything - a swatch of fabric, a great piece of art, a random vacation pic  - and it will give you a selection of color palettes to browse through.

If there's a specific color you are looking for in a picture you can narrow in on a smaller area when using the selection tool.

I love this tool!  It's a great way to take your inspiration piece and create a color palette for your room.  Take a minute and upload a picture of your favorite fabric or piece of art, and see what paint colors are recommended.  Let me know what you think about the results.  Do you start a room design with an inspiration piece?

*I have been sponsored by Glidden brand paint to write this post but the thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

  1. It has been weeks since I visited Colortopia but you are reminding me that I need to revisit. Such an amazing tool!

  2. I cannot tell you how many times I would use this. This would cut down on a lot of fan deck obsessing! Stop by if you have a moment, I'd love your opinion over at my blog!

  3. I have yet to check out Colortopia even though I've seen it heralded around the blogosphere. It looks like a great tool....I'm off to play with it!

  4. I get so overwhelmed when it comes to color -- this sounds like a really helpful tool.

  5. That's awesome! Thanks for posting this. I can't wait to try it!

Be nice or I'll tell your mom! xoxo -C
