I may have just crossed the line to crazy town.
Honestly, I don't know.
You decide for yourself.
Here's how it went down.
This empty animal crackers bear was staring me down.
I felt like maybe it was destined for a better life, so I bought a lamp kit at Lowe's.
Then my dreams were almost shattered when I made a dumb move.
But one's destiny is rarely fulfilled without hitting some bumps in the road. The honorable gold duct tape to the rescue.
And also my hub came to the rescue. He took the the top down to the garage and used a drill bit that makes circle thingies in stuff. It wasn't perfect though because I had cracked the lid already but it worked well enough.
While he was doing that I assembled the lamp kit. The instructions are on the back, and they're fairly easy to follow.
It wasn't a perfect fit but it worked.
Then I cleaned the bear up with soapy water, dried him off, and took him outside. I started with a coat of white made for plastic spray paint.
Then I followed it up with gold.
Then I made him a lamp shade. For some reason I've got gold and American flags on the brain right now?
And now this bear that once lived in my pantry, and lost his friends to my snacking children, happily lives on the counter in my kitchen mail center.
He's a little weird and wonky. I think that's why I love him.
What do you think, am I certifiable? Crazy town is a cool place to live. Come on over and join me!

I am all about crazy town!!! It's cracking me up and is adorable. I LOVE your mail center. So great to have a space like that. xoxo

ReplyDeleteI think he's cute! I would never think to turn an empty snack container into a lamp but it works. It would be great for a nursery too. You're not crazy...just clever!
ReplyDeleteThat is adorable, and quite possibly the most creative thing I've seen on here yet!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute and creative! I love it! :)

This is Genious!!!! I have a 4yo and he is going to love this!!!...I will do mine in gummy bear colors...maybe more than one...I just have perhaps the dumbest question in history but, well that is just me...here it goes...When you spray paint the bear...the spray paint goes on the inside or is it spray on the outside? I know..dumb...but I; special that way, lol...Thank you for your time and what a beautiful creative project!!! Love it!
ReplyDeletePretty darn cute! Next time, invite us over for some animal, crackers, before they all disappear! I love those too!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love other weird people! I feel such a kinship with you. Plus, I'm diggin' the lamp.
ReplyDeleteI think I might put some kind of word on the flat belly. It almost begs for... something.
I am on the weird train too, I guess, because I love this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome.

ReplyDeleteThis is cracking me up. Not only did you spray paint a plastic bear container gold, but you made him into a lamp. And added a flag. Step. Away. From. The. Spray. Paint. Ha ha.
ReplyDeleteQuirky and crazy and I love it! His flat belly totally looks like it wants some writing on it. Maybe chalkboard paint??
ReplyDeleteQuestion -- where did you get the black wire rack on the right?!? I am in need of something just like that and haven't had any luck!
ReplyDeleteit's a tiered rack from Willow House - it was a brown color and I sprayed it black - i've seen similar pieces at TJMaxx and Marshalls
