Organizing Homework Supplies (Back to School Preparation)

One of the best things I did before school started last year was to organize our at home school supplies (homework supplies).  I dedicated a small kitchen cabinet to house all of our homework supplies and school papers.  With school starting next week, I thought it was time to revisit this cabinet.  I think the only way to keep a space organized is to revisit, refresh, and renew every so often.

All I really needed to do was get rid of dried-out markers, sharpen dull pencils, and make a list of supplies needed for the new school year.  Everything was still in great shape.  In fact, the only new supplies purchased were glue sticks.

These plastic caddies I purchased last year from the dollar section at Target.  They are still in perfect condition and are so great for keeping everything the kids need in one easy to grab spot.

Each of the kids has one, and mom has her own pencil box too!  I love me some school supplies - and my box is the only one with a sharpener and stapler!

The only other change I made was to add a basket for art/craft supplies to use on larger projects.  Since I have a Dr. Seuss thing going on in here I made a little paper label to fit that theme.

So, I think we're ready.  The chaos begins next Wednesday.........I'm sceered, but at least I'm prepared.

Am I the only school supplies loving 30 something year old out there?   The school supplies section at Target makes me giddy.............the sight of giant bins of still my nerdy heart!

  1. I LOVE a box of new crayons! Must be Crayola. I almost don't want to use them so they will stay sharp and pretty. Nerd alert? I think so.

  2. I love me some school supplies too! As a kid, I always enjoyed going out & buying my school supplies. Now that I'm an adult, I always look forward to shopping for my oldest & buying things for his classroom! So fun!

  3. I LOVE school supply shopping. Gathering up Riley's new supplies made me giddy. Love the space. Just used similar caddies for a project I am showing tomorrow. Twinsies. Your labels are so cute!

  4. You are so organized and creative! I love all of the Dr. Seuss quotes on everything!

  5. Nope, you're not the only one. I'm an office supply hoarder! :o)

  6. I agree about refreshing things every once in a while. That's a great idea to put those supplies in that cabinet.

  7. Love those caddies! And the Dr. Suess stuff. I'm a school supplies nerd too but trying to hold myself back and use up stuff we already have this year. Wish me luck :)

  8. I heart school supplies and I heart your kitchen's so colorful and the theme is by far the cutest :)

Be nice or I'll tell your mom! xoxo -C
