Outdoor Living (Deck Updates)

I've always wanted a comfy sofa for our outdoor living room (a.k.a the deck), so when Target was running a too-good-to-be-true outdoor furniture sale with free shipping during the Fourth of July I did my patriotic duty!

It's really well made, and the cushion covers have zippers to make washing really simple.  I've yet to machine wash them.  I've just been spot cleaning, and that's been working great so far.  When we get a really heavy rain I bring them into the garage, but I think if I had a good waterproof cover I probably wouldn't have to.

The new sofa also prompted me to pick up some new outdoor pillows (Pottery Barn - summer sale).  They match the umbrella (Bed, Bath & Beyond) perfectly.

We use this outdoor living space so much.  It really is like an extension of the house.  The four chairs (also from Target) we've had for about 2 years now, and they're still in perfect condition.

On the other side of the deck we keep the grill and a small table and chairs tucked away.  (The outdoor dining area is set up on the patio below the deck.)

The lattice on both sides provides much needed privacy.  I feel like I can come outside in my pajamas on most mornings. ;)

We've also recently replaced the broken brass light fixtures for these little cuties (Lowe's).

So now our deck area is officially done (but don't quote me on that).

When it's 70 degrees and sunny you can find me here.

So did you take advantage of any of those great summer sales?  You can always find such great deals on outdoor furniture and accessories when you wait until the end of the season.  (And that you can quote me on!)

  5. Looks awesome, girl. I love the burlap around the wine bottles. Oh, and a client of mine was really smart and bought a car cover to toss over her furniture. So much easier than the fitted stuff. Easy to drape over if you need to cover from the rain at some point.

  6. Carmel, you have such a nice outdoor area to enjoy. Our deck is awful and too hot. We don't use it except to walk across it to go to the backyard. Eventually I hope to change that.

  8. It looks beautiful! I'm dying for some new outdoor furniture, but I have to wait until we can upgrade our patio - it's way too small for anything right now!

  9. No sales, but i found two great wrought iron chairs on Craigslist for $20 for both. They will make the perfect sitting area in our courtyard and match our table and chairs. All I need to do is freshen up the paint. Score!!! By the way, we would love to be on your side bar. Just sayin......

  16. When my husband saw these pics of your outdoor space be responded, "See, why can't we buy something new like that? Why does everything have to be someone else's old used sh*t?" haha, cause that's what I do, baby! Thrift store! Anyhow, looks so inviting! I wish I could build up a super nice outdoor area, but we have Asian Tiger mosquitoes and those suckers bite during the day (my 2 yr old gets the worse of it), so our outdoor yard is almost uninhabitable *sob sob*
