See that little nook next to the shower stall?
It was the perfect spot for these wicker window boxes I turned into bathroom storage containers.
And thanks to Lowe's it only cost me around $35 to make this little project happen. Theses wicker window boxes are on sale right now - back in the summer they were $6.96 but now they're selling them for $5.22! The hooks were about $3 each (also from Lowe's).
These window boxes are so great for storage. They're nice and deep; perfect for holding towels and toilet paper. They had a plastic lining in them, and I just cut it out.
The metal number signs are something I added to dress them up a little. I borrowed them from the metal pots I had on my potting bench and used a little twine to tie them on the front.
You could easily replicate this look with some wooden cut outs and either vinyl numbers or a stencil from the craft store. I also think a little chalkboard label would be fun too.
I love it when design meets function and the process was relatively painless - 'cause honestly when does that ever really happen?!
In case any of you are wondering - no I didn't use any anchors. I used a pencil to mark where I wanted the hooks to go then screwed them directly into the wall, and they feel really secure. I can always put some anchors in later but I hope I don't have to - I hate working with anchors.
The basement bathroom is almost done. I'm glad to have the storage issue out of the way. Finding creative ways to gain some storage space in a small bathroom can be kind of tough. This idea of hanging baskets on the wall is a great solution that doesn't take up any floor space in a bathroom with a small footprint.
But mainly I'm just glad I won't have to yell out,"Ummmmmm, HELLO - I need some toilet paper here!" Because you and I both know we never use the last of the toilet paper and yet we (women, moms) are always the ones that end up replacing the roll! Seriously, can I get an AMEN?! So, at least now - I'll have some back up rolls nearby ;)

ReplyDeletethis is going to be a part of our guest bathroom tonight! except im going to stick the baskets over the toilet, we have no room, and my husbands toothbrush and shaving stuff is all over the place since he uses the bathroom for showers before work... SOOO excited i found this, LOVE the baskey idea... cuter, and probably the same price or cheaper than the wooden cabinet thing.
