It's such a happy combo of colors!
In lieu of a table runner I used fresh greenery. And to pacify my need to get in as much red as possible I wrapped a few clear glass votives with some faux bois wrapping paper (Target).
To add some color to the windows I hung a pom pom garland (Target) and created a pennant banner with some twine and (Michaels dollar spot) note cards.
I hung one single star ornament from the chandy over the table.
That little star makes me ridiculously happy! And the Elf quote on the chalkboard makes me all kinds of giddy too!
So that is what we've got going on in the breakfast room/nook a.k.a the eat-in kitchen. Simple and sweet - that's my motto this year.
Are you doing traditional colors this year? Or are you going with a new color combo? Every year I say I'm going to try using something other than red - and then - bam - it sneaks itself right back in. I think we're soul mates.

Love this look Carmel - it's perfect in your breakfast room. I too, love the traditional red and green, but in some areas of my home, where I have blues, it doesn't quite fit the way I would like, so I'm doing up the basement in red and green this year - totally works in that space. A woman can change things up all around the house, right? ;-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job! I'm with you on less is more this year. I am all for using pieces that I really love instead a bunch of things I kinda like.
ReplyDeleteI'm a traditionalist too when it comes to Christmas colors. Looks very cute and festive!!
ReplyDeletelove all the red touches! the candy canes make me so happy for some odd reason.
ReplyDeleteAnything with red is aces in my book. And I love the elf quote! :)
ReplyDeleteI love all of this! So funny, I was thinking already for next year and wanted to do red, gray and white. Love what you have done. Also really like the cute garlands. Too cute. Must be such a nice feeling to be cooking and eating in there!
ReplyDeleteVery lovely! When can I come over for brunch? :-)
ReplyDeleteOh Carmel this is so incredible!! Whenever I'm over here I feel like I'm looking at pics from a magazine! LOVE the quote from Elf too. Wish I could come join you for coffee in your beautiful breakfast room!

It looks great, Carmel! So nice to have such a festive setting where you spend so much time :)
ReplyDeleteSo festive! I do mostly red as well. Just posted my living room yesterday and when I look at it from a photo point of view, it pretty much looks like Santa threw up in my house. Perfect, right? :o)
ReplyDeleteHope the holiday hustle and bustle is stress-free at your house!
One of the reason's I like your blog so much is your love of red. It is my favorite color too. From my clothing to my home, I love it. My Christmas colors are mostly olive green and red. Pretty traditional.
ReplyDeleteSticking to your colors is not a bad thing - looks very festive, warm and inviting, Carmel. I love the reindeer - a gorgeous piece. I am sticking to tradition, again, this year in the living room and around the tree. The dining room may be a slightly different story, perhaps - we shall see. I am not done with my decorating yet.
ReplyDeleteIt is all so cute and I love all the red.
ReplyDeleteLove it! It all looks great & I love the quote from "Elf" :D
