It really didn't show up very well. I used a recessed light converter kit, and the options for shades were somewhat limited. I chose the clear glass but wasn't all that thrilled with the look. Many, many, many months went by, and I did nothing. In the grand scheme of things this pendant light wasn't all that big of a deal even if it also didn't give off as much light as I would have liked.
Then one day I flipped through a Ballard Designs catalog and saw the Eldridge Pendant and fell in love. Not long after that Emily Clark posted about these same pendants as she had just put the large one over her kitchen island. It's always nice whenever you're ordering something you've never seen in person to be able to see the item in a real persons home. That was the final push I needed to add the small one to my online cart. But just before I did, a coupon came in the mail! It was meant to be I think.
It shows up so much better than the other pendant did.
It also gives more light as this takes a larger bulb. And my hub loves that it isn't hanging as low as the other one did since he hit his head on the old one a few times.
I love the mix of the streamlined lantern and the distressed white cabinets. I spend so much time standing in front of that sink it's nice to be surrounded by things I really love rather than just stacks and stacks of dirty dishes.
Oh and yes, for all you eagle eyes, the rug is new too- Target - holla!

Love the new pendant light! The shape is so cute & you're right, it shows up so much better! The rug is pretty darn cute too! :) Love your kitchen Carmel!
ReplyDeleteI've had my eye on that pendant too! It looks great above your sink. I really like how the black lines mimic your shade - just lovely.
ReplyDeleteThat looks sharp!
ReplyDeleteLove the new light! Your kitchen always looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteLove the lantern and I love the cute little topiary trees. Wherever did you find those?
ReplyDeleteA little local fabric shop that also sells a few home accessories. I love them - they look so real!
DeleteIt is perfect! I have been eyeing some Ballard lights for my kitchen too. Love the new rug too. Might have to make a trip to Tar-jay today, thanks to you.
ReplyDeleteLove how it shows up now! (And, that rug from Target is a steal. But do I need another striped rug???)
ReplyDeleteI love how this pops against your window covering too! Awesome look!
ReplyDeleteIt looks awesome! It's just enough in that space. I might want to know more about the conversion kit in the near future!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great!! and I love your black and white stripe rug too!
ReplyDeleteI love your new light! I have one just like it above my kitchen sink. I remember my concern when I ordered it that it would probably be way too big for the space. My contractor had a funny look on his face when I pulled it out of the box. I decided to keep it and I love it. One of my favorite things of my kitchen remodel.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your kitchen - and the new light. What a beautiful place to work!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Any chance you have a link for the rug? I checked online and couldn't seem to find it on Target's website. It's exactly what I've been looking for.
ReplyDeleteI would love a link too if u know it. I couldn't find the rug on their website.
DeleteI couldn't find a link online. I bought it in the store - the kitchen aisle that has dish towels. Hope that helps - it was steal at $19.99 - I should have bought 2 of them!
DeleteThanks! On my way now. Shall I grab you another one :)
Deletethe lights looks FAB!
ReplyDeleteI love the new lantern! It is definitely WAY better than the one that was there before! Love it! :)
ReplyDeleteSo did it still have the converter for recessed lighting? Or did you have to do something else to make it fit?
ReplyDeleteSuch a cool light! It looks awesome! The rug is adorable too :). You're house is so pretty! I love the pops of red - red is always a color I feel like I can't pull of it my home but you do it so well.
ReplyDeleteLove it. It looks soooooo perfect. I sure wish I had a window in my kitchen, but it is one of those that is an inside kitchen. That's ok, it's still a great one. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI love that lantern - almost chose it myself! Have you seen the 3 light version?!
ReplyDeleteKelly
Yes! It's gorgeous!
DeleteAs everyone else is saying... Love it.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I have the same one, just the larger one over my breakfast table. And I was so excited when Emily and now you (because you guys both have great taste) bought it too!
ReplyDeleteSo wish I had a window over my sink! Very pretty!
Great Light! I have the medium in our entryway. Simple, classic, modern. Makes me happy everytime I look at it, lovely design on ceiling too, esp with a dimmer switch.
ReplyDeleteThe black outline of the pendant matches the black outline of your shade...holla !!
ReplyDeleteLol
I have topiaries flanking my kitchen sink and love them too. The pendant is the perfect touch...don't you love it when form and function blend beautifully!?!
ReplyDeleteAmelia
