I truly enjoyed taking a break from design to talk about fashion last week. Some of my favorite stylish bloggers shared what they think are the 7 wardrobe essentials every woman needs.
If you missed it, here's a recap from the fabulous five.
I believe the design and fashion world are intertwined as both are really more about style than anything else.
So it goes without saying that each of our style-istas would have a different list of 7 essentials. What we can learn from their lists is how to really hone, own and rock our own individual style.
I believe Coco Chanel said it best.
This is my list of 7 wardrobe essentials.
I'm a big, huge fan of jewelry - necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings - vintage, new - big or small - I love it all! It's the icing on the cupcake and can take a boring outfit to the next level. And big plus - it always fits! My favorite places to shop for accessories are Anthropologie (similar to the necklace pictured above) and Forever 21. I'm also a big fan of online sites like Charles Emerson, Stella and Dot, and BaubleBar.

The great thing about black pants is they can be dressed down for a more casual look or can stand in place of a dress for a more formal affair. The Modern Knit Slim Pant from Ann Taylor is my favorite. They don't fade, and they flatter any body type.
I'm also a big believer in the basic white tee. It works with everything - alone or layered under a cardi or jacket. My favorite is the timeless crewneck tee from Banana Republic, but I also love the selection at Target.
I think a pencil skirt is a timeless look. I have fuller hips and thighs so I tend to choose those that are made from heavier fabrics and are lined. (the above skirt)
What I believe about jeans can basically be summed up with this picture I found on Pinterest.
When it comes to jeans, the wrong fit can be detrimental. What works for my body type is always more important to me than what is "on trend". I'm currently a fan of Old Navy's Mid-Rise Rockstar Skinny jeans . I honestly don't think that a super low rise jean looks good on anyone.
It might seem boring but I love a plain white oxford shirt. It's crisp and classic. Paired with skinny jeans or black leggings and boots, it's a go-to comfortable style for me.
So what are your wardrobe essentials?
