Polka Dotted Ceiling

Beautiful, glorious-gold, kate-spade-inspired polka dots make me happy!

Getting a polka dotted ceiling project done in less than 20 minutes makes me even happier!

Thanks to the wonderful Land of Nod this was the quickest project to date in my girl's bedroom.  These are removable decals!  They're $24.95 for a set of 48 three inch dots, and I needed 3 packs because of the giant size of her ceiling.  I thought about possibly diy'ing them with some gold metallic paint and and a large round sponge applicator instead of spending $75.  But, when I added up the cost of gold paint plus the primer and paint I'd need when I was ready to say goodbye to the dots the comparison was a wash.  I think when you're adding an element like polka dots to a design you have to consider the cost of removal as well.  With these decals, when the time comes to remove these dots (although, I don't see that coming anytime soon), all I'll have to do is peel the decals off and we're right back to square one.  No priming.  No painting.

They went up in less than 20 minutes (which means I don't have a neck cramp! that alone was worth the money spent)..........and it will probably take even less time remove them.

I love them!  And so does she!  These dots come in silver and white too, but we're both partial to the gold!

They are so much prettier in person.  It's hard to really capture they way they shine when the light hits them.   They add the perfect touch of whimsy.  The very best part is how much my girl loves them!  She says they make reading in bed feel fancier.  ;)

Here's a run-down of all the projects that have been completed in her room so far.

Someday it will be done - right?  Next project in her room will be curtain panels.  I've already started them and am hoping to finish them up this week!  Woohoo!

  21. Looks great! I had to come over after I just saw you IG picture.
I obviously love them too since I used dots in my bathroom. I made mine myself on my silhouette cameo with gold wall grade vinyl. Was also super easy!

  25. Gorgeous!! I agree, the price was well worth the convenience (& the look of perfection). You're making me want these for Quinn's big girl room some day.

  29. why no crown molding? i think rooms look so builder's grade and unfinished without crown molding! is it just me!? because this room looks great but just needs some crown molding!

  30. So cute! I pinned them and might even try to convince my husband to do it in our room, I need some more glam in there without making it too cheesy:)

I made vinyl dots myself with my Cameo machine for our guest room walls, but buying them is so much easier!

    1. I bought it on ebay years ago - like maybe 6 years or so. It was a handmade item. It has 6 layers of pink tulle over a pink cotton ruffle. I don't think this ebay seller is still there, she may have moved over to Etsy though.
