Say hello to the easiest little art/craft project ever.........otherwise known as my idea of having a good time during the super bowl. ;)
So to sum up the pictorial above - I started with a blank canvas panel and a silhouette cut out I made by tracing the outline of one of my girl's bookends (seen here on her bookcases) on a sheet of polka dot scrapbook paper. Then after raiding my craft supplies I placed stickers on the canvas to write out my favorite Shakespearean quote. (This is going in my girl's room, and if you knew her you'd understand how very appropriate this is for her.) I then painted the entire canvas with black craft paint. While the paint was still wet, I pulled up the letter stickers using the end of a paper clip. I didn't worry at all about any paint leak through because I was going for an old typewriter style of font..........said the girl with the imperfect sticker stenciled letters. Then, because if and when I can, I always bust out the rub 'n buff, in gold leaf, of course, I used it to fill in the word "fierce" (an old craft paint brush does the trick). I followed up the gold rub 'n buff with mod podge and gold glitter. I mod podged the silhouette on and then used it to seal the whole canvas panel. The mod podge in matte left a really cool finish over the black paint. It kind of made it look like a chalkboard.
This fun little piece will be part of a gallery wall I'm putting together in my girl's room.
So that's how I spent my Super Bowl Sunday.......what's your idea of fun during the super bowl? Did you actually watch the game? the commercials? or did you pretend to watch while crafting, taking photos and writing a blog post? ;)
