2017 Favorites

Hey friends!  Happy New Year!  How was your Christmas?  We kicked our holiday break off with a quick 3 day trip to Disney World, and then enjoyed Christmas Day back at home in Charleston.

The days between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day were some of the most relaxing days of the whole year!  And while I enjoyed every minute of our holiday break, I’m excited to get back to work.  I’ve got so many great things planned for 2018!

But before I dive in to sharing all that I have planned for the new year I thought it would be fun to take a look back at 2017 and highlight a few of my favorites.

Favorite Room Makeover

I managed to finish a lot of rooms this year including my office and my son’s bedroom, the guest bedroom,  my girl’s bathroom and our laundry/ mudroom.  But my favorite makeover of the year is the hub’s office space landing spot.  I love a design project that maximizes the potential of a house.  And the makeover this landing spot at the top of the stairs received is such a great example of that.  This space is small but mighty, and it’s a perfect office nook for my guy.

Favorite Big House Project

Painting all the moulding and cabinetry in the laundry/ mudroom was super laborious, but once I was done I was really glad I decided to paint it all grey.  This color is super life friendly.  It hides dirt and scuff marks beautifully.

Favorite Small House Project

Installing a dimmer is not a difficult task.  It’s actually one of the simplest home projects, but it’s often one that gets pushed to the back burner.   At least that’s how it goes for me.  But this year I finally got around to putting our entry foyer and front porch lights on a dimmer.

(And I love these gold dipped bulbs!)

Favorite House Purchase

It’s tied between our Speed Queen washer and dryer……….

and the new Samsung Frame TV.

Favorite Trip

We took a few great trips this year including a family trip to Maine and an adults only trip to New York City, but without a doubt the best trip of the year was our spring break adventure in Italy.  It was the trip of a lifetime!

Favorite Instagram Account Discovered This Year

The majority of the accounts I follow on the ‘gram are those related to design and style, but this past year I discovered the account of Katie Stauffer and was immediately obsessed.  In case you’re not one of the 3.4 million that follow her, she’s a photographer that shares the most adorable pics of her 5 kids, but it’s her 3 year old twin daughters that steal the show and keep me totally tuned in.  More specifically her daughter Mila…..well, just have a look for yourself.  I could literally watch Mila videos all day……and sometimes I do.  😉

Favorite Netflix Binge Watch

I netflixed so hard this year that it is now a legit verb in my life.  😉   The series I most enjoyed out of all the ones I watched this year was West Wing.  I have no idea why it took me so long to finally watch that show, but I loved every episode of all 7 seasons.  And I was so sad when it was over!  That was time well spent y’all.  What did you enjoy netflixing this past year?
