I was reluctant to embrace audio books. It felt like cheating. Somehow it seemed like it didn’t really count as reading. But this year I threw out all my preconceived notions and decided to give audible a try. And it’s safe to say I’m hooked! Don’t get me wrong, I still love to hold a good book in my hands and feverishly flip through her pages. But audible fills the gaps in my lifestyle where it’s just impossible to sit down with a real book. It makes DIY projects more enjoyable, and it even makes doing laundry slightly more palatable.
Giving the gift of Audible would be such a great idea for any bookish friends on your gift list……or for anyone who travels a lot. There are 3, 6 and 12 month memberships available for gifting. (No, this is not a sponsored post.)

If you or anyone you know is a fan of Gilmore Girls or Parenthood, this book is a must. It’s part memoir part anecdotal essays, and it all adds up to really good fun! The added benefit of the audio version is listening to Lauren Graham herself read….and sing just a little bit. I was already a super fan, but I may have reached full on stalker status after this book. She’s just so fun and quirky and real and honest and grateful and humble………and I could go on and on. But really you should just get the book. 😉
I’ve been a fan of the blog Modern Mrs. Darcy for quite a while, so I was eager to read this book. I found it completely fascinating, and I think it’s one that everyone should read. I’m actually planning to get a hard copy of it because I’d like to be able to go back through and reread sections from time to time. The book explains the most popular personality frameworks such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, StrengthsFinder, Enneagram, and others. But Anne explains it all in a way that is understandable and relatable. She shares her own life experiences highlighting how the insights to be gained from understanding our own personality as well as the personalities of the people in our lives can positively affect our relationships. I really wish this book had been written when I was back in my twenties. But I guess it’s never too late to figure out who you are. 😉
This would make a great gift for anyone who loves a good personality quiz.

I read A Wrinkle In Time when I was in 6th grade, checked it out of my school library. It’s on my list of treasured childhood favorites along with The Chronicles of Narnia, Where the Red Fern Grows and Anne of Green Gables. So I’m beyond excited to see the movie that is coming out March 2018! The cast itself with Oprah and Reese Witherspoon, to name a few, is fantastic, so I’m sure this movie is going to be phenomenal.
I’m currently reading the book with my daughter. Rereading favorite books from my childhood with my children is always so special. If you’ve never read this wonderful classic you really should! And if you have any book-loving children (around the ages of 10 to 13) on your gift list, this would make an excellent gift! This book is actually the first in a series of five, and the boxed set would be such a great Christmas present.
