Earlier this year I gave our laundry/mudroom a makeover.
Revamping this little space has made doing the laundry feel like less of a chore. That’s a lie. It still feels like a chore. But at least now I have a pretty space to Cinderella in. 😉
Oddly Placed Outlets
When the makeover was done there was still one little aspect of the space that kind of bugged me. Like why on God’s green Earth would anyone place an outlet here? Why not farther down the wall where it would be hidden behind the washing machine? I hate to say it, but ladies, a man was clearly behind this. Am I right? #imnotamanbasher #butispeakthetruth
I know. It’s a laundry room. Get over yourself.
But I’d be totally lying if I didn’t confess to scouring Pinterest for “clever ways to disguise an outlet”. It’s silly and it’s not that big of deal; but it just bugged me. And I am who I am, so I needed to solve this issue no matter how ridiculous and insignificant.
It was like every time I walked in the door from the garage this outlet was slapping me in the face. #dramaticmuch But relocating this outlet farther down the wall sounded like a lot of effort (and probably a waste of money) for something that just isn’t that big of a deal.
A majority of the ideas I found regarding “outlet disguising” centered around creating a gallery wall around the outlet, but I didn’t want to hang frames in here because I knew they would just end up collecting dust.
InstaPrints And Washi Tape To The Rescue
Instead I opted to go with Instagram prints and washi tape!
*Little tip – There’s an app called Printicular that makes ordering prints off your phone and other social media channels a breeze! The app is free and the prints are affordable.
I solved this little “issue” cheaply and easily. And now I have a collage of memories slapping me in the face instead of just an outlet. 🙂
It really does help the outlet to blend in rather than stick out like a soar thumb. Plus I like that it’s fun and kind of whimsical……but also easy to remove if I tire of this look.
Do you have any oddly placed outlets in your home? Do they drive you batty or am I the only crazy lady here?
