How is it possible a whole week has gone by already?! Time sure does move fast during the One Room Challenge! I wish I was a bit farther along, but I was waffling around with a paint decision for the walls this week.
I learned the hard way that it’s always best to choose a paint color last. It is just so much easier to choose a color to flow with a design plan than to create a design plan around a paint color.
So I’ve got my plan together. More on that here.
Light or Dark Grey?
This week I painted large swatches on multiple walls in the room and examined them at different times during the day. If you caught my instagram stories earlier this week you may have already seen the two colors I was deciding between.
Sherwin Williams Shoji White (on the left), a color I’ve used a lot in this house as it’s such a great light shade of neutral grey that is not overly stark or too warm. It looks more white than grey here, but it really is a very light grey. A few shades up on the same paint strip is Amazing Grey which is clearly much darker, but I think it’s nice for a teen boy’s bedroom. It feels cozy. And that’s a feeling I really like in a bedroom. We have this same shade of grey in the master, but our room gets a lot more natural light than our son’s room. So I was concerned that it might be too dark in here.
On the instagram poll I took 75% of people said they liked the darker better and 25% thought it was too dark for the space.
What say you? Which shade do you like best? The light or the dark grey?
Or would you choose something entirely different?
I’ve made up my mind and have already started painting. Any guesses what color I chose?
I have a feeling these spaces I drew inspiration from for the design plan will probably give away what color I chose.

Dark and Cozy Wins!
Even though I was almost positive I wanted to go dark in here, I’m still glad I tested first. You just never know how a color is really going to work in a space until you see it on the walls.

Here’s to weekends…….and hoping I have a lot more to share in next Thursday’s update!
