Last year was our first year with a white tree. We all loved our little white tree and were very excited to pull it out of the North Pole a few days after Thanksgiving. Then it sat empty for a few days, and I even considered leaving it that way. Honestly there really is something beautiful about a tree with nothing but lights on it, but my kiddos couldn’t stand it any longer. So I busted out the bins of ornaments and let them trim the tree.
Then after they went to bed I did a little (not much) rearranging. I mean, one branch doesn’t really need 10 ornaments on it – does it?
It’s a happy little “whatever goes” tree. Rather than loading it up completely we selected only our favorites so that each ornament could really shine.
We’ve got everything from a skiing Santa…….
to a sledding snowman……
with a few special childhood ornaments thrown into the mix.
I wrapped a few ornaments in winter wear cutting up a thrifted scarf to make ribbon.
I just taped the fabric on so it’s not a permanent change.
So that’s how we dressed our little white tree this year – colorful and fun with magic and sentiment!
It sits in a corner of our family room where we can also see it from the breakfast nook and kitchen. I love seeing it all lit up from the table during dinner. There’s nothing better than a Christmas tree at night!
It’s like magic.
