First and foremost, Our Fifth House is primarily a diy design blog, an online journal of sorts where I share my decorating adventures and misadventures. Somewhere along the way I started sharing bits and pieces of my life outside of the decorating box, and so a few years ago when I embarked on a paleo journey I decided to include my readers on this new way of cooking, eating and living.
Over the years since I’ve learned a lot about food and about my body. I’ve figured out what works for me and what doesn’t. A diet is really nothing more than a way of eating. And since we are all different it makes sense that a diet is not a one size fits all kind of thing. So after a few years in to this paleo life here’s where I am. I’m still mostly paleo. I’m 100% gluten free all the time. But I’d say I’m 80% paleo. I’m team white rice. And team occasional sugar, because a life without sugar isn’t a life, in my opinion.
I believe food, even the kind that’s healthy for you, should taste good! I’m not a chef or master baker, in fact when I married my husband I didn’t even know how to boil a pot of water! #noimnotkidding Eating real food has definitely inspired a love of cooking within me and that has not only nourished my body but my soul.
