Today I’m participating in a virtual Christmas Home Tour hosted and organized by Marty at A Stroll Thru Life. She’s always been so sweet and supportive, and it’s such a pleasure to participate in the home tours she organizes. If you’re coming over from the last stop at 11 Magnolia Lane and have never been here before, welcome! I’m Carmel, a pattern-and-color-loving design enthusiast, who lives in Charleston, South Carolina, and I’m so happy you’re here. I know you came over for the pictures, so I’ll do as little talking….er, writing….as possible and just let you scroll through mostly uninterrupted. 😉 Grab another cup of coffee….or glass of wine….depending on the time of day, and come on in!

Entry
My holiday decorating mantra is always…..”keep it simple”. I give myself about a week to get things done, and then I call it good and just sit back and enjoy the season with my family.
Excuse the scratched up paint on the inside of the front door……I was going to edit that out of the picture, and then I thought, “Nope, I’m keeping it real.” The joys of dogs. 😉
But they sure are cute.

Kitchen & Dining
In keeping with that whole “keep it simple” mantra, I didn’t do too much in the kitchen other than adding a fresh wreath to the hood and putting our old santa hat chair covers on the barstools. We’ve had them since before our kids were born. And it makes me happy to pull them out every year.
Living Room
I’m a big fan of red, blush pink and gold. It’s such a romantic color combination.
This year I bought a 9 foot skinny tree, and it fits this space so much better than the traditional width. To give our tree a nice full look I added some faux magnolia leaf bunches.
While our tree does have a color scheme, it also holds lots of special ornaments that we’ve collected over the years.
Since our tree is artificial, I like to bring in fresh greens for the mantel and bookcases. I just pick up discarded tree branches, free of charge!, from the Christmas tree lot rather than buying garland. It works like a charm and smells so wonderful!
These card books are so fun to flip through every year!
As much as I enjoy lounging in our living room with the glow of the Christmas tree, I tend to begin and end my days out on our screen porch.
Screen Porch
This plate was mine as a child and brings back such special memories.
Thank you so much for visiting today! Be sure to head over to the next stop on this virtual house tour – Rain on a Tin Roof. Jenna’s style is so fun!
